Belgian PM says 12th package of Russian sanctions ready
MOSCOW, Dec 8 (PRIME) -- The 12th package of E.U.’s anti-Russian of has been prepared to include a ban on imports of Russian diamonds, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said in a news conference on Friday.
“The 12th package of sanctions has been prepared, it includes very important elements like a ban on Russian diamonds on the market of the G-7 countries. We have been working on that actively for the past several months … As a president country we will ensure unity on the issues like that,” he said.
On Wednesday, the Group of Seven leading industrial nations (G-7) said in a statement that it would present restrictions on imports of non-industrial diamonds mined, processed or produced in Russia by January 1, 2024, while a mechanism of diamond tracking and certification would be established by the G-7 states that import uncut diamonds actively by September 1, 2024.
